Sanna Perkiö - Member of Parliament

Ms Sanna Perkiö - Member of Parliament, PhD

I have been a member of Finnish Parliament since 2007 and a member of Helsinki City Council since 2004 representing National Coalition Party. In Parliament, I am a member of Employment and Equality Committee and Environment Committee and a deputy member in Grand Committee. More information about the Committees can be found here.

As a politician I have focused on four sectors/issues:

  • environment, climate, energy
  • jobs, entrepreneurship, equality issues
  • art, science, education
  • metropolis

In these sectors I have achieved a lot of knowledge and experience before my parliamentary carieer. I have studied a Doctor degree in Environmental Technology at Helsinki University of Technology (2007).

I have also twenty years of experience as an entrepreneur in environmental consulting. It has been extremely rewarding and educative to work with versatile environmental issues in many different companies. I have had possibility to get acquainted with skilled people from production lines to top management and had a chance to learn environmental issues within different industries.

I am interested in culture, especially in contemporary art. I act in ARS Delegation in Finnish Museum of Contemporary Art, Kiasma. In addition to interest in art and literature, I also like sports, especially out in the nature. Jogging or walking by the sea, golfing and sailing are important activities to me. Nature has significant importance for us Finns, and we need to work together in order to preserve it for the future generations!
